When a patient presents with dyspeptic symptoms, arriving at a definitive diagnosis is easier said than done. Diagnostic aids for gastrointestinal disorders are few, treatment choices are limited and symptoms are often treated empirically.

The SmartPill pH.p Capsule is a single-use, ingestible capsule that measures pressure, pH and temperature from within the entire GI tract and wirelessly transmits that information to a Data Receiver worn by the patient. Once the SmartPill capsule is passed, the patient returns the Data Receiver to the physician’s office where the information is quickly downloaded to a laptop computer. SmartPill’s MotiliGI™ software then generates the test results: gastric emptying time, combined small and large bowel transit time, total transit time, antral and duodenal pressures and motility indices.
